Catching up on reading.....

Some pathophysiology reading AND some not-so academic reading. I finally opened up the new Lonny Magazine and wanted to share some of my favorite photos. My synopsis: Dark paint is IN and those diptyque candles are EVERYWHERE.

Makes me want to rip out the windows in my kitchen and replace them with this.

I love how this wall is arranged. Perfect.

A black kitchen. Who knew?

And then I read the new Milwaukee Magazine with the cover story "Best Suburbs". I'm not a suburbanite and/or fan, but I did start getting ideas about a scooter getaway to Cedarburg. My favorite bit in the new issue was seeing my friends' restaurant, Hue, featured on pages 13, 80, AND 81! If you haven't gone to Hue, you have to go and try the Pho and the spicy crab rangoons.

Weekend: Organizing the Office

This weekend, I'll be putting this together:
HELMER drawer unit from IKEA

Then, reading some of those books on my shelves:
"Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly" by Anthony Bourdain

And in the end, my office will hopefully look like this:
Photo: Betsy Burnham's office in Lonny Magazine

I hope your weekend is more exciting than mine! But, if do get bored, go and visit the Cream City Vintage shop on Etsy.

Photography by Patrick Cline: Horses

These photos simply take my breath away--the contrast between rustic and abstract gets me every time. I would love to have one of these white-matted and simply framed hanging above the sofa or in the office. Patrick Cline is probably better known for his work in Domino magazine and now Lonny magazine than his personal photography. He sells the 16x20 giclee prints out of the Lonny etsy shop for a hefty $250 each.

Weekend: Lonny, Top 10 list, a garage sale and a bloody mary on top

I'm excited to get the weekend rolling because there is sure a lot of good stuff going on in the neighborhood.

The second issue of Lonny Magazine is now online! I browsed through it today as fast as I could because I couldn't stand the suspense. Over the weekend, I'm going to sit down and read the articles and dog-ear some decorating ideas. Go take a look! Go, Go, Go!

I'm going to finish up with some odds 'n ends on my Gift List at the Urban Garage Sale. It's tomorrow from 10:30-5:30 pm at Turner Hall Ballroom. Design Within Reach will be there? With discounted stuff? Hot damn. On a side note, our wedding reception will be at Turner Hall Ballroom next summer, so I'll take advantage of the daylit room and make some notes in between shopping.

My Top Ten Albums of 2009 List is almost finished. I should be posting that next week on this blog and on the Letters Home from Camp blog. Matt at Letters Home from Camp will be hosting the 7th Annual Top Ten Party on Dec. 27th at Trocadero. Check out the Shepherd Express write-up here.

If time allows, I'm going to try to hit up the Bloody Brunch at Stack'd bar on Sunday from 11am-2pm. It looks like a super good time AND proceeds will benefit the Blood Center and Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation. I'm all about that kind of charity stuff.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Lonny magazine premieres today

I heard the buzz about this magazine on two of my favorite blogs: Design*Sponge and MA Belle and have been anxiously waiting for today. I was really surprised when I went to lonnymag.com that the ENTIRE magazine was viewable online. It takes a minute to load but the pictures are fantabulous! I was flipping through and freaking out to see Patrick cline photos (he's one of the editors), the Brooklyn home of Design*Sponge blogger, items from VivaTerra, and antiquing tips!

Now I'm off to the downtown Borders to find a tangible copy for myself.
