On the Mind: The Kentucky Derby

We were out walking the dog tonight and I was talking about how badly I wanted to have a Kentucky Derby party.....mostly because of the hats. I love the Kentucky Derby. It's southern class all the way--the hats, the mint juleps, the thoroughbreds. Here is my inspiration board for the party in my mind. Regardless, odds are this classy party in my head will turn into a pizza party and we'll be wearing pajamas. I can dream.

I am a fan of the chintz florals that are making a comeback this spring. The Anthropologie hooked wool rug on the right is $498 but the similar Urban Outfitters throw rug (on the left) of the same size is only $68.

New stuff: danish modern carafe

This is my new water carafe for the guest room. It should be here soon! It seems like every design magazine/blog/etc. is really pushing the danish modern trend that's happening now. I really like the clean lines and 1950's european appeal of it all, but it just doesn't mesh well with my home decor. However, I believe THIS will look quite nice in my guest bedroom on the nightstand with cucumber water or lemon water. A perfect addition to those Andes candies mints I've been putting on the pillows.
