Tilt Shift

1., 2., 3.

I have been a little obsessed with tilt shift photography lately. It reminds me a little of the Mr. Roger's Neighborhood intro. Remember that? Well, I have a feeling tilt shift it will turn into the new hipstamatic and be overused on every occasion, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Reindeer games

The weather in Milwaukee is more arctic than midwest this week. When the windchill drops to -25˚F, I start to forget where I am.

Santa, is that you?

Weekend: A wedding, Lake Geneva, and KFC

We drove down to Lake Geneva today for my friend's wedding. I grew up nearby, but since I've moved away I seemed to have forgotten how pretty the town is in spring. I always remembered it for the Illinois weekend tourists and horrible downtown traffic, but there's a lot of charm to that town. Here are some flickr photos from Luiz Felipe Castro. He really captures what I'm talking about. Between the wedding ceremony and the reception we took a detour over to KFC. Mostly, we went because we were intrigued/fascinated by the Double Down, but wimped out and did not order it.

Milwaukee Faves: Downtown Trains

I've always loved driving or biking through downtown and riding alongside or under the bridges with the Amtrak or freight trains. I guess it makes me feel like I'm in a big city, things are coming, things are going, there are places to go, things to do. I found these amazing photos from cp4510 (Ryan Schoenfeldt) on flickr. I like trying to pick out the familiar downtown buildings. The top one is my favorite--it's the same Amtrak train and bridge I pass everyday. Speaking of Amtrak, isn't the Hiawatha train to Chicago great?! I love taking a day trip and going to Union Station.

Budding....

Photo: Lasting Love Photography

We went on an evening walk tonight. The trees in Humboldt park are starting to bud, the days are longer, and the temperature is almost warm enough. I can practically taste Spring; it's so close.
