I like: Nomaterra fragrances

When I shop for fragrances, I look for light, clean notes that remind me of a certain time or place - like my discontinued bottle of perfume that I stringently ration because it reminds me of the blossoms on my grandfather's citrus trees. Or the fragrance I bought in Boston that reminds of that trip to Boston and that time in my life.

So I was delighted to hear that nomaterra fragrances, a new brand out of Brooklyn was adhering to my philosophy in fragrance - let it evoke a time and place. They have three fragrances of three cities. Nomaterra sent me three samples to try out on my own and I'm so happy with them. I have been looking high and low for a good new fragrance. Washington, DC is my favorite. It's a classic scent, that smells like you've walked along the tidal basin cherry trees, mixed with an hour in the the musk and tobacco of a senator's office. It really does reminds me of my many work trips to DC. It's a good year round choice. East Hampton is a citrusy and woody scent that wears well in the spring and summer. It smells like a garden close to the ocean. Finally, Miami is more exotic, spicy, and sweet. It kind of reminds me of my trip to Costa Rica. It's probably the ylang-ylang, which I love.

I'm pretty picky about my fragrances, but I would definitely recommend all three. You can try the same sample trio for $10, which honestly is worth it for TSA travel or to throw in your purse. Bottles are sold with an extra 15ml refill ($110) or you can buy the travel fragrance wipes ($36) which would be perfect for no-mess freshening up when on the go. Order online at nomaterra.com. And find them on facebook here.

A Stylish Traveller...

1. Zip Pouch, 2. Karat Hardsided Luggage, 3. Luggage Tag, 4. Ray Ban Aviators

When we were leaving for the airport a few weeks ago, I said to my husband, "I get restless if I don't fly every six months or so". Yes, this was the yuppiest thing I have ever said. In my defense, it was 4am. But, I will admit to my love of flying. I love the early mornings, the security lines, the small seats and carryon luggage. My travel essentials are far less glamourous than what is shown above, but if I can someday own up to my yuppiest of statements above, then I just may someday own these, too.

Pitchfork Fashion

Did any of you go to Pitchfork in Chicago last weekend?? I didn't make it, but in addition to hearing how the bands were, I found this post on what people were wearing. I am liking the colors, girls. Way to bring some feminine back into streetstyle. Which outfits are your favorites??

Drawn to: Pool Blue

Lately, I have been really drawn to cool pool blues. Pool blue embodies summer for me - fresh, clean, and effortless. It reminds me of warm weather, sun, and vacation days. And I wish I had a pool. Are there any good pools in Milwaukee that do not also include a kids waterpark?

I've been leaving my hair product bottle out on the bathroom counter (not just due to laziness, but some of that, too) just because I like walking by and looking at the color. Aveda's glossing straightener has been nice when it's humid and my hair start to frizz. I have been admiring the Chanel blue nailpolish, but is blue nailpolish too much? I am kind of thinking so. I would also like this coffee table book, Poolside with Slim Aarons, to glance at througout the summer, too.

TV night! Cougar Town Style

I have to admit, I am quite the Cougar Town fan. I love the outfits, and the home decor, and the campy jokes. I also think it would be fun to drink wine and live in Florida. Due to some family plans, I am going to tape the season 2 premiere tonight and watch it tomorrow. So don't tell me what happens! If you're also a Cougar Town fan (or just a hip chica that likes good style) you'll like these Cougar Town inspired finds:

Entertainment Weekly did a mini set tour of Jules Cobb's house. Check out exactly what products are used on the set!

Travel Style: Roman Holiday

1. English-Italian dictionary 2. Come Away with Me dress from Modcloth 3. Ring of Roses tank from Anthropologie 4. Riptide swimsuit from Anthropologie 5. Calypso wedges by Toms 6. Morgan sunglasses from Banana Republic 7. The Ellie bag from Rubie Green 8. Vespa GTS 300

I have been putting a lot of thought into what I'm going to pack for our Italy trip. Mostly because we will be on a Vespa for the majority of the trip and I need to pack a small bag of duel-functioning outfits and essential comfort (but stylish--this IS Italy) items. So here's my plan: dresses, non-wrinkle fabrics, comfortable wedges and a nice pair of sunglasses. That should get me through the majority of my clothing needs.

Stay tuned to see how the packing goes......
