Watching The West Wing

I just finished watching the complete West Wing series a few days ago. I had to decompress a little. If you're a West Wing fan, you know how captivating this show can be. If you haven't seen the show, it is incredibly inspiring. It made me want to jump on a plane to DC and intern for the rest of my life. I was a little late to rally on the West Wing bandwagon, but I was immediately hooked after getting the box set last Christmas. The show does has a democratic slant but that's not the whole show. It's really about the political process and life in politics (on either side of the aisle). Plots encompassed everything from tensions in the middle east, the fine print of the Constitution, to the nuanced rules of the White House curator's office. The episodes are pretty fast-paced and witty with well-known guest stars in almost every show. So, if you're at all into politics or fast-paced witty dramas, I really think you should watch a season (or seven) of the West Wing.

Here are some classic West Wing scenes.

If you're a West Wing fan please comment, I'm going through some withdrawal.

  1. Oh, West Wing. Last year, after I found out I'd be moving to DC for graduate school, I watched the entire series. So, I too share your love of the show. It's fast paced, witty argument. The Josh/Donna relationship that takes 8 seasons to turn into anything. I'm not on track to work in politics, nor would I want to, but they sure do make it look like a good time. If you like West Wing, you'll love Sports Night. Only lasted 2 seasons, but it's Aaron Sorkin at his directing finest and some more Josh Malina reporting action.

  2. Ah, I love The West Wing! I actually still haven't watched the last season (for shame)---kind of want to start from the beginning again and see it through. I watched it a couple of years ago---definitely late to the show as well.

  3. I LOVE "The West Wing!" When I was laid off from my job a few years ago, watching a couple episodes a day really got me through it all. Thankfully, I found a job, but that meant I moved away and wasn't able to take my roommate's final two seasons of the show on DVD with me! I still need to catch up on those.
