Wedding Weekend

Black lace dress. camel clutch. Kate Spade earrings (last season). mint shoes.

I'm back from a long, long weekend in Toledo, Ohio for my brother-in-law's wedding. The ceremony and reception were both held in the amazing and ornate victorian private club, The Toledo Club. From the marble floors in the foyer and Tiffany stained glass light fixtures to the hidden doors from its days as a speakeasy, it was truly an amazing place. The sheath dress I bought just days before the wedding (read: procrastination) had a great open back and a black lace overlay. As for the mint shoes, I bought those the day of the wedding (read: major procrastination problem) after deciding my other ones just weren't as fun. When doing a real feminine fabric like lace or ruffles, I try to keep the silhouette clean with basic lines and a straighter look. I also accessories with the same philosophy, but also try to add a bit of modern (so that I don't look like Barbara Streisand in My Fair Lady). And since mint is way hot right now, I just had to do it. Sadly, I don't own it, but this camel clutch is at the top of my wish list right now. How fun is that camel without being silly? Pretty fun. The earrings were a birthday present from my husband last year. When in doubt, guys, Kate Spade can't go wrong!

Engagement Photos in Aisle 5

On Monday, my friends Colleen and Mike were featured in Rock 'n Roll Bride for their quirky engagements photos taken at nearby http://www.koppas.com/">Koppa's Fulbeli Deli by my friend CJ Foeckler.  They both love Koppa's, and who wouldn't - how many groceries stores can you sit and play Atari - and they live nearby so it was a perfect location.  During the photo shoot they really got to ham it up and show off their bright and fun-loving personalities.  Which, for engagement photos is perfect.  It's nice to see a fun (and authentic) couples photo instead of the ho-hum "day in the park" photos.

You can see more of Colleen over at her blog, Flee Fly Flown and more of Mike at his blog Wizconsin.

Milwaukee Save the Dates

Wedding season is a'comin'. If anyone is in the market for some great Save the Dates, I stumbled upon these cuties from Etsy seller, Beyond Design. And did you know you can have a wedding at the old Pabst Brewery?? I'll be going to one this summer. I've seen the rooms, stain glass windows, and the beautiful courtyard. It's a gem. It's also open for tours and on the weekends for drinks. Check out the Best Place next time you're looking for somewhere unique and off the beaten path.

The wedding pictures are back! Neil, over at Front Room Photography did an absolutely amazing job photographing our wedding. Here are a few of my favorites, but for a few more, check out the FR Photo Blog. For a video of that awesome Vespa grand march, go here.

Hey all,
The wedding was 100% perfect--the weather, the schedule, the vows, the photos--all perfect. Here are a few pictures taken by my bridesmaid, Casey, to enjoy while I pack for our trip to Italy. Thanks to everyone--it was honestly, hands down, the best day of my life--I had so much fun!

Love,

Dream Wedding Shoes

jamie grenough photography

These blue strappy cute wedding shoes are EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Unfortunately, I can't find them anywhere. BLERG! I believe these are Prada, but not entirely sure. Do you know?!?! That's OK, I'm open to other suggestions for good wedding shoes, too.

I like: Hangers by LilaFrances

Wouldn't these be great gifts: for a baby shower, a wedding shower (hint!), a graduation gift?

You can personalize them with a name, nickname, a date, class of '10, or a short saying.
Order them at LilaFrances on Etsy

On a sidenote: was anyone else annoyed/disappointed with the Bachelor finale tonight? Thought so.

Wedding update: Paper goods

These little flags are from lilmissi on Etsy. I'm not exactly sure what I'll use them for, but I know I'll figure out something......they're too cute NOT to use. As for the guestbook, I'm so glad I didn't have to settle for some tacky white thing with a plume feathered pen. I found this Ingrid Cusson one at Anthropologie after a long and hard fought search elsewhere.
(Helpful Hint: Ingrid Cusson Online has different colors and prints to pick from along with address books, journals, photo albums, etc. I don't see the Anthro print online, but if you order another print at IngridCusson you do save a little money.)

Cheap Thrills: Anthro sweater and floral rugs

Q. What are my cheap thrills?
A. Finding good deals or good imposters.

This cardigan wrap was all over the wedding blogs a month ago but is now ON SALE at Anthropologie for $49.95! Hurry, I guarantee it will sell out.

I am a fan of the chintz florals that are making a comeback this spring. The Anthropologie hooked wool rug on the right is $498 but the similar Urban Outfitters throw rug (on the left) of the same size is only $68.

Wedding update: cake topper

These little ceramic birds are from mudpuppy on Etsy. I wanted something I could use as home decor or accent after the wedding. I think they'll like living atop some books on my desk.

Wedding update: Vespa road trip through Italy

Photo: Adriano, bananastrudel

For our honeymoon, we talked about a lot of options: New Zealand, France, the Caribbean. Those just didn't seem like "us". But this, I'm really excited about. I think we'll spend a couple weeks in Europe traveling, but the main event will be a road trip from Rome to Naples along the Amalfi coast riding on a Vespa. It's about 120 miles one way and the terrain looks to be easily done on a scooter. We've done similar trips on Matt's scooter so we'll totally be ready for this!

Let me know if anyone has Europe travel suggestions (I love the heck out of comments!)

UPDATE: We went on our road trip! It was amazing. Read all about our trip, our route, our Vespa, and my tips for Vespa travel in Italy HERE.

Web Browser: Favorite Wedding Websites

This has been by 2nd job for the past few months - browsing wedding blogs. I laughed at my friend Abby when she could, off the top of her head, identify the fashion designer, photographers, and name of the flowers in any picture I showed her. I fear that this, too, will be me soon. This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to wedding blogs. But here are some of my favorites that consistently have new and unique material.

- greenweddingshoes.blogspot.com

- designspongeonline.com Grace's Wedding Part One-Five

- ohjoy.blogs.com Here Comes the Bride Series

- oncewed.com

- the brides guide blog from Martha Stewart
