Last week, I took a little thrifting trip and discovered a ton of great finds. More on that soon, but first I have some exciting news.....

ReThreads is offering a $100 gift card to one lucky Cream City and Sugar reader! Leave a comment below and tell us what's your favorite vintage find. A winner will be picked later this week.

For any lover of thrifting and vintage fashion, ReThreads has got you covered. Of all the vintage stores in Milwaukee, I have the most luck and most love for ReThreads in Riverwest. ReThreads is in the newer building on Humboldt Blvd. just north of Locust Ave., right next to Alterra. ReThreads has great turnover, quality items, and a large amount of designer labels. They even stock some handmade jewelry, bags, soaps and adorable little plush toys. Also, ReThreads buys your old clothes (for cash or in-store credit) so start cleaning out your closet gals (and guys). Visit the ReThreads facebook page HERE for more information. Their store is open Monday - Saturday 10am-7pm, Sunday 11am - 5pm. By the way, if you're not from Milwaukee ReThreads has additional locations in Madison and East Lansing. These items below I fell in love with, but didn't buy, so they're still up for grabs!

1. MM couture stripe blazer, size small, $44
2. Plushzilla bears, $15-40

  1. What a fantastic giveaway! My favorite vintage find was a pair of red shoes (no label) found at a thrift shop in Los Angeles. I had to have the inner soles re-done but they are one of my prized possessions!

  2. Ooh this is just the greatest giveaway! I love ReThreads. I think my favorite vintage find was a dark burgundy leather jacket at a little hole in the wall thrift shop near my college a few years back. I rarely have such good luck in 'regular' secondhand stores, and that made it even more fun to find!

  3. I just found a really lovely vintage Coach Willis bag at a antique shop in South Dakota a few weeks ago. Here's to hoping I can add to my collection of great items!

  4. I'd have to say my favorite find was a classic, vintage clutch. It's black with a gold clasp, simple yet when you open it up it has this beautiful paisley lining with earth tones. Typically Hobo would have this clutch for over $120, but thanks to ReThreads, I found the perfect clutch for the perfect price.

  5. The best vintage find was when I was in college. It was a men's tweed long overcoat. I wore it non-stop and only gave it up when the lining started ripping beyond repair.

I honestly have thrifted for years. This would be a great chance to start again!

  7. Killer giveaway! I have yet to check out ReThreads even though I only live down the street. I found this awesome American Express travel bag at Yellow Jacket (RIP) a few years ago. I always use it as my carry-on bag when I fly.

  8. My favorite vintage find was a brown leather cross-body bag for $5! The strap had to be repaired, but I love that my favorite bag only set me back $17! I love Re-threads too!

  9. it's a tie: the vintage bar found at a resale shop in the third ward or the buffet and hutch we found at an estate sale and had repainted and restored. love finding things with history!

  12. Very cool giveaway. My favorite item that I picked up several years ago was this fantastic pair of corduroy flared pants. I wore them frequently my senior year of high school and I wish istill had them today. Rest in peace, pants... also rest in peace Marlene's Touch of Class (was formerly where Water Buffalo stands today in Milwaukee's Third Ward).

  13. oh my, where to begin! best find ever was a giant bolt of 1950's atomic star print polished cotton fabric, complete with cutting tag from 1952. I cannot bear to cut into it, my feeble sewing skills will not yet do it justice. Was also recently able to dig into the formal gown collection of a man whose wife was Miss Wisconsin in the 50s. That blew my mind (and my budget). Awesome giveaway, Sara! -Michelle @ BoltedMKE

  14. A 70s long dress with a multi-colored velvet top and balck skirt. Wore it to a very stuffy fundraiser and had so much fun! I love that I can't take the world too seriously in my ReThreads outfits.

  15. My favorite vintage find has been some old postcards!

  16. What a great giveaway! Considering about 80% of the decor in my home is thrifted vintage, I have a hard time choosing just one, but the Eamers-style sitting chair and sky-blue rotary phone I scored at a garage sale last summer (for $12 total!!!)are waaaayy up there on my list.

  17. I love Rethreads but my "eye" isn't developed yet. I'm better at finding vintage stuff - like my cast iron pan and a old bingo number spinner with numbers (and not a mall store reproduction, either!)

  18. I've never been to ReThreads, but it sounds like a cool store. When I first moved here, I got some a great vintage coffee table set for cheap. I love it because the design is so functional, and I could probably never find anything like it if I went to the furniture store.

  19. My favorite recent purchase is a vintage black leather Coach purse that I got at Goodwill for $35! It's perfect. (I also love ReThreads gently used designer section!)

  20. I bought a great white/pink/black Soren bag from ReThreads that's big enough for my MacBook Pro and has morphed from my purse into my laptop bag. Favorite part: It says "Toast is hott!)" and "DREAMY" on it.

  21. I love going to thrift stores and finding unique purchases, here in Milwaukee and other cities. My favorite vintage purchase is a floral high waist skirt I found at a small thrift store in Flagstaff. I receive so many complements and it was only $11!

  22. This is such an awesome giveaway. I'm a madison based blogger, and I LOVEEEEEE ReThreads. I think I'm there every weekend! My favorite recent scores were a navy blue vintage leather Coach bucket bag ($40), and a pair of leather Gucci loafers ($20). Awesome! Hope I win!

  23. Most of my vintage finds are fabric related. But i have to say my current favorite vintage score is an old ugly mustard yellow thermos for soup/hot foods. The best part? My 6-year old son loves it as much as i do and uses it for his school lunches.

  24. favorite vintage find : all the fabric yardage they sell, love the patterns!

    ReplyDelete
  25. oh, love rethreads...they have one in madison that i found myself wandering into all the time.

my favorite vintage find was probably my wedding dress -- a mike benet prom dress, entirely cotton lace, in a 1970s-does-1940s style that perfectly fit my flower-child-meets-swing-kid aesthetic. (plus, it fit perfectly and cost less than $50 -- how often does that happen?)

  26. Favorite vintage find definitely a black puffer vest, perfect for fall/spring!

  27. My favorite came when I was 15--a Mod black and white Oscar de la Renta dress. I bought it at a Goodwill Fashion Show for $15...

  28. My favorite vintage find came from ReThreads! A beautiful wool herringbone blazer from J.Crew in a bright violet color (plus it had an extra lining inside for warmth in the winter months!) It was also my favorite because it was reasonably priced, and that's important when you're in college ;)

  29. It's hard to pick just one, but one of my favorite vintage finds was purchased on Etsy... a pair of navy/white wingtip heels (no label, from the 60's) that I will be wearing for my wedding next year. Love the one-of-a-kind factor of them... no yucky, dyeable, cookie cutter shoes for MY big day! :)

  30. My favorite vintage find I wore to my wedding. A wool sleeveless beaded sweater.

  31. I bought a vintage dress from a place that used to be in Third Ward for a wedding. It was a gorgeous sleeveless beaded dress that made me feel like a princess. It was a one of a kind find and a great price. Loved that dress.

  32. My favorite vintage find was a goldenrod dress from the 50's that I am now addicted to wearing thoughout the season with or without leggings depending on the WI weather :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. My favorite find was at ReThreads - a vintage tshirt that reads" Wisconsin Come Sniff out Dairy-Air!"

  34. My dad went to auctions frequently when I was a kid. He once gave me a gold locket with a woman/flower design on the front that he found in a box of "junk" that he bought, and I still wear it all the time.

  35. What an awesome giveaway! The majority of my house decor is all vintage or antiques that I have repurposed. My favorite find was a few old metal milk crates that had my grandfather's milk hauling business name on them. I found them at a flea market not far from MKE. I made a wine rack out of them for my dining room & I keep an old faded picture of my grandpa with his milk hauling truck in a frame next to it.

  36. Great giveaway! Would be quite a treat for anyone's weekend! (or at least mine! ha!) One of my favorite finds was a skinny beige mink stole with the most fabulous large, flowing stitching in a vivid cobalt blue of someones initials on the inside. I'm such a nerd that when I saw it, not only did I love it, but I was picturing it being a present of grandeur admiration to one lucky woman at one point! Makes me smile!

  37. Favorite vintage find? My beautiful vintage flower print Koehler loveseat. My friend found it on the side of the road, knew I'd love it. That was 6 years ago and I'm still loving it!

  38. Awesome giveaway! My most recent (and therefore, current favorite) vintage find is a wool Pendleton coat from Luv Unlimited in Bayview. It's a houndstooth pattern, with a simple, yet elegant silhouette. It's so classic, I feel like January Jones in Mad Men when I wear it! Pairing it with a pair of brown leather riding boots really completes the equestrian feel!

  39. This is sweet! My favorite vintage piece I ever got was a pair of real leather boots made in CHILE! I got them at a goodwill store in northern Wisconsin, god knows which cowgirl really had them before me, but they were to most fashionable yet real peanut butter colored boots I have ever found. Wore those to the true soles!
